Lingerie photographer uses FP4 for 2015 catalogue

He appears to be using FP4 tethered ..... 😀

I wonder if film was actually used at all ... or it was just part of the 'sell?'
 
Yeah, saw the back of the digital camera...way to go marketing team! What a massive screw-up! I guess most won't actually notice.
 
It's quite possible the digital was just used for proofs/on-site inspection of the images by the team and then the film cam/back used for the actual shots.

In the shot where he is cutting open the brick, there is a motor Hassy with a Pola back which may have been used for confirmation that the film rig was going to look similar to the digital proofs.
 
I think a few years ago, when digital photography was decimating film sales, outrage at the deceit would have been appropriate. But today when everybody has made their decision about what they want to use, film is still available and no longer in decline, then even if it fools a few people at least the advert will fool them into buying a few rolls of FP4, which cant be so bad?

Ok, so now we have an opinion of film vs. digital from the other side of the lens. How about that!
 
I think/guess that maybe the photographer made a special set of wet prints.
Portfolio edition for CEO or self.
I know of a few pro photographers who make such limited editions.
The digital purely for test and getting it done a week ago.
I never used Polaroid when doing Fashion.
The colors, look and different film speeds a bad comparison.
I pretested my shoots..with same film, lighting, etc.
Strange not showing faces etc..
but then again did "T-shirts" on hangers as models were too expensive!
 
The digital back was for use as "Polaroid confirmation" of exposure, composition, client approval, and such. Maybe they used film to save the $500 digital tech fee, or the $1,000 digital rental fee. Seems to me they just wanted to make it more about the process than the clothes.

Seeing someone number a roll of film takes me back to 1981, when I worked as NYC photo assistant. I would load the backs, keep track of how many shots were taken so I could be ready with a freshly loaded back, number the rolls, put them in a coffee can marked exposed, put the roll numbers on the confirmation Polaroid, and write notations on the tech sheet -- such as which Polaroid and film roll went with each product or shot change, if the film was getting a head or tail clip test, how it was processed (+1/4 +1/2), if a CC filter was used, and more.
 
Aubade is one of my favorite lingerie companies. The clothing is ok, but the photography is superb. I don't care if they use digital or film, but I wouldn't be surprised if they used both--I do.
