Hey all,

Just picked this thing up from a thrift shop for $15. It was dirty and rusty as all hell when I got it but everything seemed to function fairly well so I went ahead and got it because I recognized the Linhof name. Got it sanded down, cleaned, and lubed up with some oil and man is this thing solid. The legs also seem decent enough. Only thing missing is the control arm... oh well.

Anyone have any information on what model this is or when it was made? I hardly even use tripods so I have no knowledge of their history. But I can't help feeling like I scored a little bit here...

Looks like a great piece, with a geared center column and cine-head. I am not so familiar with their tripods, but everything else Linhof has made is really solid engineering.

Cool, I think so too. It actually looks worse than it is in this photo, crappy lighting and dark at home. The "dirty" looking parts are actually grey hammertone but the texture and color got screwed up by the iPhone camera and tungsten lights.

Linhof can probably still supply the control arm: they have many spares going back to well before WW2. Their big tripods are very good indeed -- I have a still larger one from the 60s -- and those heads are superb.

Cheers,

R.

Roger,

Any idea on where those parts can be sourced?
