LL Reviewer Sean Reid Launches ReidReviews.com

Luminous-Landscape reviewer Sean Reid, well-known to many on this site for his excellent
and extensive reviews of the Leica Digilux 2, Epson R-D1 and various rangefinder lenses,
has just launched a new web site. Reidreviews is a subscription site with no
advertising and, unlike many review sites, Reid says that his new site will pay at least
as much attention to rangefinder cameras and lenses as to DSLRs and their lenses.
Coming up soon will be Reid's reviews of the Zeiss Ikon and four ZM lenses as well as a
long-term report on the Epson R-D1. Articles planned for the coming year include a
review of the Leica digital M and more rangefinder lenses (old and new). At $26.50, a
year's subscription costs about the same as two movie tickets and a bucket of popcorn.
This is one reviewer who is worth reading and I highly recommend the site.

I just sent the following to subscribers:

"I just published the first of a four-part series on rangefinder cameras and lenses. This first article looks at the Zeiss Ikon and Leica M7 film cameras. The second piece will look at four of the new Zeiss Ikon lenses in terms of how they perform on the Epson R-D1 (as compared to similar lenses from Cosina Voigtlander and Leica). The lenses tested for part two included: Cosina Voigtlander 28/1.9 Ultron, Cosina Voigtlander 35/1.7 Ultron, Cosina Voigtlander 50/1.5 Nokton, Leica 28/2.8 Elmarit, Leica 35/2.0 Summicron, Leica 50/2.0 Summicron, Zeiss 25/2.8 Biogon, Zeiss 28/2.8 Biogon, Zeiss 35/2.0 Biogon and Zeiss 50/2.0 Planar T. The third will look at the performance of the same set of lenses on the two film rangefinder bodies. That third article will also look at how accurately each camera focuses each lens in the set and also how it's metering system exposes (considered in relationship to the macro-contrast of the various lenses). There will also be some general comparison of the files from the R-D1 and scans made from Tri-X film that was used in both of the film bodies. The fourth article will be a comparison of the Zeiss ZM 21/2.8 and the Leica M-Aspherical 21/2.8 Elmarit."

Cheers,

Sean
