Loading from BIG bulk rolls of film

make sure and tell us how the loading went - and if the film is any good too.

PS The 400' rolls are dated 2004.

Hey, thanks for the heads up on this manny.

I ordered the penultimate roll today. Did you have any tricks with the loading? I'm going to wait until Uni. opens again so I can do decant in their darkroom - I don't fancy doing this in my changing bag :)

I have a 500' roll of 70mm Plus-X Aerorecon film in the freeze-o, that I use in my 70mm Hasselblad backs. The emulsion is thin, so I can load up to 250 exposures per back, instead of the usual 70 :)

-Dan, I meter out a bit in the dark, and wind-it-up by hand. Quite easy:)

OK, so I got the BIG 1000ft roll over a month ago now and it's not been too bad loading it...

I had a hideous feeling in my stomach when I was loading the first 100ft reel in the Uni darkroom and after a while realised I could make out the furniture - shag. That was some wasted film.

But it's fine now, after the first 100ft were taken off the big roll is small enough for my changing bag.

Shot a roll for testing and 10 rolls at a beer festival and this film looks good, grain looks a little soft but I'm unsure whether this is me using IlfosolS (and at 1+14 at that) or the film itself... It definitely handles high-contrast sunshine better than the APX400S which went quite wonky if it wasn't cloudy.

So, who else ordered some of this stuff? Any thoughts on developer and scanning / printing?

I remember seeing a 200 ft roll bulk loader for sale on ebay recently. I don't think it sold for much. Never seen a 1000 ft roll bulk loader though. A person could make a big roll bulk loader using the front end of an Alden bulk loader.
