longest lens for rd1?

I've had a few good results with the 90mm Summicron.
It's trial and error though as the subject is always off centre and obviously the overall framing is somewhat guesswork.
It's more something for still life and landscape, not street photography or reportage.

1) Had a 90/2.0 A-A Cron but focus was off at near distances. Sold it to get #2)
2) Had a 80/2.8 Rollei Planar but focus was off at near distances. Sold it to get a Millennium Nikkor-S 50/1.4 & Orion adapter.
3) Had a 85/2.0 Nikkor-P LTM and again the focus was off at near distances but not as bad as the first two.
4) Tried a 105/2.5 Nikkor-P S-Mount with orion adapter and misses out scored the hits by a 4:1 margin
5) Tried a 135/3.5 Nikkor-Q LTM but the R-D1S' baselength just couldn'y do it accurately.

I still using the first 4 lens on your list (although my 10.5cm Nikkor is LTM) amongst others and I don't really have a problem with focusing. It is the framing that a bit more inconvenient. I use the Tewe zoom finder that goes up to 200mm so that I can use up to 135mm (Canon ones as the goggled Elmarit won't fit) on the R-D1.

I sold my Rollei for $900 to a Calgary shooter, G. Lorenzo, if I'm not mistaken.

Benny Ng may still have his 80/2.8 with the Rollei F-mount adapter.

That is a bargain. The lens goes for 1.5 to 2.5 times that price now. I still have two, and the elusive Rollei to F mount adapter. I think fbf just got this lens as well.

Anyway, I don't really use anything on a regular basis. However, I do play with focal lengths up to 135mm. Framing is tricky. 90/100mm are easier as I estimate the frameline between the 50mm framline and the RF patch.

My Nikkor-S 8.5cm F1.5 LTM on the R-D1S

That is one good looking set!!!! I've always been interested in the 8.5cm f/1.5.......

I've used the M-Hexanon 90mm f/2.8 on the R-D1 and liked the results. Focusing was not too hard.

I use it with a Nippon Kogaku Varifocal finder at 135mm and it works a treat. Especially for candid portraits.
