The sliding hood on the 50asph sort of turns and locks into a detent. An improvement over the pure sliding hood. BUT in reality it does NOT lock in the extended position, so when you least expect it the protection of the hood is gone.

On the plus side, the sliding hood package is more compact. But the LHSA chrome is sooo cool.

OK so I answer my own question. Its just a silver version of the current regular 50mm ASPH Summilux, but 130 grams heavier. I nicked a picture from the German Leica forum:

Looks like it has a focusing ring? I like sliding hoods and dislike vented add-on hoods. I also prefer chrome finish to match my MP. I'll take one please! 😀
