Didn't really think I would subscribe to this thred but, guess what?
Yesterday I at last won a 5cm Summar lens. I've been looking, wondering, and then decided to have a bid. Wondering because of all the tales you guys tell about the quality of the glass etc.
And I won the lens - not a bad price but then the lens has been used a bit.
It arrived this morning - that's right, about 24 hours turn round.
The box was enormous! The amount of packing mind boggling. And there sitting in the centre wrapped in layers of bubble pack, one Summar lens.
So I've had a reasonable look at it. The glass looks remarkably clear - nothing that I can see that is untoward anyway. Of course the brass is a little rubbed. It's a trifle stiff to lock and unlock but it certainly looks OK.
So what do I try it on? The IIc?: the IIf? : the IIIa?: or the Bessa R?
Decisions, decisions!!

Congrats on the Summar! I'm not sure that you should collapse it into the Bessa R. Check before trying.

That's the same version that I have, Dave, and I like it very much. It is a very nice balance between vintage and modern imaging. Older lenses may have more of a signature and newer lenses may be sharper, but this one is pleasant all round, IMO.

DR Summicron
Here is the DR summicron I've been tring to get my hands on for the past 3 months.
It's on my M6TTL, I had to remove a small screw and black leveling thingy to fit it on the M6, but the finder and everything line up perfectly from what I can see. Only the roll I'm putting through it will tell for sure if the paralax and all are really correct.
I got it from Artorius, great deal and excellent shipping.
And here it is...

It's just leftover money from a shoot I did there last year. I just thought it would be a nice element for a still life along witgh my MP, passport and my analog Spectra cine incident meter.

Sweet. I just love how this gear circulates the globe. Tomorrow I'm meeting up with GeneW for a "truckers breakfast" at Helen's Fish & Chips, pick up a Fujica screwmount SLR for a chap here at work and be the courier back across the border. Gene and I will of course obey our cardiologists and have oatmeal. I'll also get to fondle Gene's newly arrived black Bessaflex.
I'm going to take an OM/M42 adapter and we'll pop some Zuikos on for some Olyflex shots ... and I have an M42/OM adapter so I can do the reverse.

The Leica Standard finally got collected by its new owner.

Now all I need is a lens for it... and a darkroom enlarger.

Confirmed RF addict...
Nice looking Contax Frank! It looks much better than it did in the (auction?) pic you posted previously... I'm over the moon to finally be a Contax owner! My II hasn't left my sight since it arrived... Hopefully I'll get some results back soon, but I was a bit stupid & loaded a 36. It has definitely been a pleasure to use so far & I'm afraid my Kievs might get relegated to the 'collection'.
Cheers!

Yes Peter, I was pleasantly surprised by its condition, though the Zeiss bumps are pretty big. A black lizard embossed camera cover from Akihiro is on its way to me. I don't know whether to attempt a repair on the shutter and RF myself or not. The smartest thing would be to contact Mike Elek I think.

The case is here.
The case is here.
OK, it's not from Luigi, but the black leather, factory original "Leitz Wetzlar" case arrived. Bigfoot will be so happy!

Paul: Other than the engraving, looks nice and fun!
Wayne: I love the old cases. My LC came with an original half case, and it is that thick, sturdy leather with the shiny black finish. Not perfect but ... Schweet!

My 0.85x M6 Classic arrived in the mail yesterday! Here it is paired with its new sibling (my M4). The new arrival is looking a little naked at the moment. But it shouldn't be feeling hard done by for long as I have a black strap from Luigi and a Leica handgrip ordered for it and in the mail at this very moment.
