My Zeiss 25-28 viewfinder arrived today! Just after I made the first enlargements from the 25. This is a stunning lens and the VF will help me make much more use of it!

What a 48 hrs for me. The Hexar, the F3, and now the ZM 25mm from Ron in Oregon.

Im waking up early in the morning listening for the postman, but he dont knock,Chorus...........

Our postman doesn't knock either. If you're not at the door, ready to accept a parcel he can't force through the letterbox (he graciously folded/squashed the parcel containing the Weston V small enough to go through the letterbox), he shoves a "Sorry you were away" note through the letterbox instead... the lazy sod.

Anyway... two bits of history...

My Dr came today!

My Dr came today!

Here's my new-to-me DR Summicron for my M3. Now if I can only get the eyes to perform properly. Seems to be a common problem that the RF patch is out of vertical alignment with the VF through the goggles. As usual the lens seems in WAY better shape than the BGN condition stated by KEH. This makes a wonderful companion for my Collapsible.

Isn't that the most amazing finder you've ever seen? It really puts any in-camera viewfinder to shame.

I have one of the Johnson calculators (two actually ... I also have the one made for shooting indoors under artificial light), and love it. Not that I use it much, but I keep saying I will give it a whirl. But I don't have the almanac ... it looks brialliant!

First it was a Canonet QL17GIII, fifteen days later a Bessa R with 35mm Color Skopar, a week later a 75mm Color Heliar, today a FED35A, a lens hood for canonet and a UV filter for a Rollei 35B, in a few days a Jupiter 3 (thanks to an RFF user)

Two parcels in the post today. First, a Heavystar 40.5 lenshood for my Hex M 50. For $20 odd bucks including a lenscap its a bargain. Now the biggie. A Hexanon 35 UC F2 brand new from Matsuiya in Japan. Number 000686 (one of only 1000 ever made). Right up until the last minute before buying this, I debated the Hex against the Zeiss Biogon 35, there being very little difference in the price, factoring in the Zeiss lenshood has to be purchased separately. The Hex got the nod because of its diminutive size (I do a lot of multi day hiking so size and weight is a factor in everything). Then late last week Tony at Popflash dropped the price of the Biogon to under $700. Bunner. But now I have the Hex in my hot little hand there are absolutely no regrets. It will also compliment my Hex M 28, 50 and 90 lenses. Yippee.

It's here!

It's here!

Thanks Ryan! Thanks RFF!

Yikes! Two in 24 hours. What are the odds? I may have to add the 50 & 90 to join the 28 & 35. I hope this lens makes pictures as good as it looks and feels.

ps: I was sorely tempted to buy that new lens about a week ahead of you. I'm glad a RFF got it.

The doorbell rang at 830 this morning as I was getting ready to leave for a meeting. I went downstairs in my robe & the postman gave me a box from Georgia (USA) with my name misspelled on it.

Inside the box was a small, brown, hardbacked leather valise, scuffed. It contained my first Leica, a IIIf with case; Summitar & lens shade; Canon 135/3.5 with finder & cases; Canon universal finder & case; 3 filters; Weston Master II; flash attachment (Synchroblitzer! Sounds like a lasergun); a bunch of flashbulbs: a Leica-Meter, which I'm going to have to investigate (maybe it's for the flash); and.... that's it. What a haul.

I think I'll spend a few days fondling it, learning how to load it, and exposing a test roll before sending it off for a CLA. The seller said the shutter was cracked, I haven't looked.

 I think this smiley means I'm in heaven.

Congrats! You're gonna love the Summitar on your Leica IIIf. Life is like a brown box ...etc.

A second Contax T2 arrived today, meant to be my everyday/everywhere camera. I will interface with it much more easily than with the Rollei 35SE as it can comprehend distance much better than I.

Wayne, got mine a couple of days ago (see last post above yours). What do you reckon mate, isn't she a little ripper? Though it was expensive I guarantee I'll get my money's worth. It will live on my M6.
Cheers, Alan
P.S. What's the number of yours?.

While agonizing over the purchase, another happy owner & RFF member described the lens as "jewel like". It is a gem indeed. My only concern: the shiny black lacquer matches my Canon EF SLR better than the black chrome hide on Bigfoot & Bubba. It does look perfectly at home on the VI-T. The proof is in the photos. Those are on the way.
