Well I need to get used to metering with that 28! Looked up the metered area this morning, and it was actually way bigger than I thought while shooting, explaining my erratic exposures on film. So the next roll should be better...

What do those empty M8 boxes go for down there Keith?
Keith
The best camera is one that still works!

After all that's happened over the last few months with the M8 furore tending to rule this forum ... I'm a bit scared to actually open the box!
I'll have another glass of merlot and build up to it!

A Camera in my continuing Vintage Collection.
I am starting to Collect Camera's that are of importance in the turning of corners in Camera History, Or just one time tryouts.
The Canon EF helped to start a change over from Cloth to Medal shutter curtains. This helped increase the "x" sync, AND allow Slower SS under 1s, that could be metered. The Cells in the EF Meter is Silicon based, and are 8x more sensitive to light than a CDS cell.
The Canon EF has a dual shutter mechanism also. It is a mechanical from 1s to 1/1000s, But Electronic from 2s to 30s. AND is not a cloth shutter, as used in all other Canons of it's day. It was a Copal Square Medal shutter. So without batteries, the Canon EF is a straight forward non-metered Manual Focus SLR. With Batteries, It is a Tv (Shutter) Priority SLR with Manual override, where the meter suggests the F/stop only.
Looks like it only needs new light seals and a mirror dampener for the up swing stop. The Shutter works and sounds accurate all speeds. from 30s to 1/125s, over that, I can no longer tell....to fast.. And the Meter is right on with my EOS 1. I know that is right on.
The 50mm F/1.4 SSC lens Clean (In/out), with signs of use, but not abuse. I had this lens on my 1972 Canon F1 my parents gave me on HS Graduation. It is a great performer. even at F/1.4.
FYI for who are interested in camera innovation and history.

A Leica reusable film cassette, complete with a metal Leica cannister...

One of my first Ebay purchases. Sadly it doesn't quite fit the Standard, but I'm not counting that.
(Edit: Nope, it does fit... I was just not used to using actual metal "Made to fit" stuff, that's all)
Now, to recover a parcel that "Postman Pat" couldn't be bothered in delivering, as he found it much easier to shove a "Sorry you weren't in... wait 14 hours before you can get it yourself" letter through the letterbox instead.

It's ok, it fits. It's just that I've never used this stuff before. I'd just not lined the little lump up correctly, that's all.
What I'd like to know is, how common (or uncommon) are these cannisters?

Might make for an interesting poll- "was a Brownie your first camera?"
Mine was a Hawkeye Flash Brownie, 620 film. Still have it, and run film with it every year.

Exactly! except I never had the Weegee flash unit.
No controls, but I loved it then. I could take pictures! I remember vividly thinking about how one particular image would look as a picture when I took it- that was the beginning of the end for me. Still, of all the vices this one ain;t so bad eh?
