Look what came in the mail

I've committed Blasphemy!

Not only did I buy a 35mm SLR, but it was a Nikon SLR; a Nikon FE with a MD-11 motor drive and two lenses (24mm 2.8 and 35-135mm) to be exact.
The only excuse was that it was only $60NZ and it needed rescuing from it's prior owner.
And not to forget, blame Gene for his article on Old Beaters.

Stu :)

Rico and flashover: B-U-T-ful.
Rico that's the gorgeoust 90 elmar I ever saw and so is the M4!!!

Just got my first rangefinder from Camera Quest. I took my dad's Industar 61L/D, which its rear lens cap broke a while ago :p. As for the front lens cap, it is the cap from a bottle of tylenol with black duct tape.

I must say, the Bessa R quite nice, though I was not expecting a rubber covering like DSLRs.

There's nothing wrong with old beaters. I'm hoping to acquire one myself shortly. ;)

Bessa R

Bessa R

My mailman just delivered Bessa R and side grip that I purchased through EBay. I was pleasantly surprised by their condition. They were described as excellent but appear mint. The only issue that I could find with the camera is a very slight vertical misalignment of the rangefinder.

I just got the Jupiter-9 from Belgium that I won six weeks ago on eBay. Beautiful lens. Everybody complains that the lens is massive, but it's a lot smaller than I thought.

The glass looks completely flawless. Original box, front and rear caps to go with it, too. I'm happy. :)

This Bessa R2 showed up in the mail today, from Jessie. Very pretty. Is it weird that I'd buy this camera even though I have Leica, Nikon, and Contax RF cameras already? I think I'll use this as an everyday camera. It's lighter in weight, convenient with built in meter and framelines for several lenses, and less valuable so I needn't be so mindful of it. It is the same size as the CL in a bottom 1/2 case, and I find the ergonomics better. It is almost a better CL. The build quality is improved from the Bessa R I used to have. It feels good. A negative is that the shutter is definitely much louder. For most of my shooting it won't matter but there will be times when it does. It is currently wearing a J8 lens. I can see it with the 40 Summicron C and 35 Summaron too. Also the CV 50 F2.5 I jsut bought.

Receivedmy XA from dazedgonebye in the mail today. Just finished cleaning it and adding new light seals. Now let's see if I fixed that light leak. Film is ready to go.

Received my CV 75/2.5 today from a fellow on APUG.

Unfortunately my R2A won't be here for at least a week! Maybe I could use it on my Bessa L? Hmmmmm . . .

No camera came in the mail for me, but 10 rolls of adox 25, 8 rolls of adox 400 and 2 rolls of adox 100.

I received my R2A and 35/1.7 Ultron a few days ago. I've already put one roll through it and thankfully didn't screw up the loading of the film!

Salman, were you trying to bottom-load it? :D :D

Hehehe, no! I did have a hard time initially getting the film leader to catch on the take-up spool, and then was a bit surprised at how much leader I had to advance to make sure that both top and bottom edges were catching on the teeth.

I guess I've been too spoiled by auto-everything P&S/SLRs for too long!

Well it's got worse, I've added three more lenses to the Nikon setup, a Nikon 50mm/1.8, Sigma 18-35mm and a dodgy brand 100mm/3.5. So far the kit has cost less than $200NZ!... Man I'm starting to love digital now ;)

Stu :)
