I've wanting to get one of these and after using a kit from one of my friends I am hooked :)

What's the best place to buy from considering I am not a fan of the big auction site? I don't see any in the classifieds. Is there anything I should look for as far as issues? I am not a collector and don't care about cosmetics as long as it's ready to shoot.

I know someone selling a brand new, still unopened S3 200 set (chrome). How much is something like this really worth? Do I have to worry about a camera being unused for this long?

Thanks for all the help.

You can try the photo shops in Japan, Jon might be able to help you in this respect. I would not worry about a Nikon Rf camera being gummed up after sitting around for nearly decade, they are very good in this manner unlike other makes.

You just missed two sets of s3 2000 on KEH. They were there for at least 5 months and was recently sold. Both were mint in box with 50/1.4 millennium for 18xx$

Thanks for all the replies, you guys rock!

@Jonmanjiro - OK, so an SP 2005 and Millenium Nikkor it is, where do I keep looking for those? Again, I don't care about cosmetics as long as the camera performs as it needs as I will shooting it for my pro work.

Cheers!

I'd recommend picking up an S3 2000 kit to use for now, and then selling (or maybe even keeping) the S3 body once you track down an SP 2005 body. I should really add that its not easy tracking down an SP 2005 body only. Just 2,500 SP 2005 kits were made, and not many of those have been split up. Will let you know if I spot anything over here though.

More love for the SP + Nikkor Millenium combo.

I'm using my Nikkor with an adapter, but will get an SP for it someday. The good news is Nikon RF prices have been dropping....

Excellent, thanks!

My local dealer is the one selling this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...851373&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1156). Is it overpriced?

Probably a fair price if it really is new and comes with a valid factory warranty, but I'd rather wait, buy used, and save myself $800 - $900.

We have a great relationship and they wouldn't bs me. Can you still send the warranty after all this time? You are right, I really don't care about looks and will actually toss the boxes right away and should wait for a used kit.

Thanks again!

I will add that Jon is THE fellow to find you the S3 2000 or the SP 2005. And I'll just ask that the boxes not be tossed-please send to me!

Konichiwa Jon. How does Wednesday look in Tokyo? 100 deg F here in Sacramento.
