Looking for feedback on my website

I am pursuing a career in photojournalism and documentary photography and looking for a little feedback on my website: layout, navigation, content, everything really.

Nice professional look to the website. I like your work too. Maybe a little more text? But that's just my personal opinion. Journalism is about the story too, and apart from the titles of the galeries, there's not much telling a story.

My first reaction was, that if this is to be a professional site, you should change the selfie in the ABOUT page to something more sober.
I think that making a living out of documentary photography nowadays will be difficult. If I were you, I'd try to become a journalist in the first place and double as a PJ. It would not hurt either to learn 4 or 5 languages and 3 or 4 universal professions, just in case.

pretty nice. i agree about the selfie, though.

for a small website, i generally prefer a flat website hierarchy to get to content with fewer clicks. it would be a bit of work to reconfigure it at this point, though.

Bloody sheep may not be a good splash page. Also, the selfie has to go, for the following reasons: 1) it's a selfie; 2) it should be a professional photo of the principal (you), not you and your girlfriend/wife on a hiking trip; and 3) your youth may work against you.

I was actually worried about that. For now, I changed it to a different selfie. Maybe I need one of those "photographer in action" photos.

There is nothing I dislike more than drop down mouseover menus (your gallery header). That's not really a part of modern web design anymore, thanks to touch screen devices that can't properly mouseover (though it may still work, it's dated and annoying). Dropdown menus are just gross, is there any other way to make these links apparent?

Not really as big of a deal, but your website's background color is very close to the white of the website frame. Just a shade more difference between the two would be nicer on the eyes.

Sure they may be a bit sluggish, but if you've checked it out on a phone you'd see there is no hover, the menu is different. I'm glad you paid attention to a more responsive layout for something other than a desktop screen

The range of photos in your slideshow isn't representative enough - have you at least one local shot to include? Your potential hirers need to be able to identify with what you are doing - this is like a portfolio.
The selfie is now better but .... needs to be thinking about.
In 2013 .... sentence I thought to start with that you had done the awarding! Write all your text and then get an experienced copywriter to do a check through at the very least. You are touting for business, but don't over sell yourself.
