I just finished a first reading of Larry Towell's Mennonites and am wanting more! Any recommendations for rural and farm documentary style photography? I also really enjoyed Danny Wilcox Frazier's work in the midwest and of course the FSA and OWI photos.

I love the FSA work.
I live In Appalachia and have documented it since I got my first camera in the 50's. Click the link to my website. This is a tiny fraction of what I've shot. My work is now in museums and have over 100,000 images of Appalachian culture Ive made. Tge second link is to my gallery where you'll find a few more.
There are a few images on there I made of a remote group of Mennonites in Appalachia that are now gone. I spent several years getting to know members of the community to gain their trust before photographing them. Now many of the Mennonites are business people and drive black cars and have small businesses.

"Old Order Amish: Their Enduring Way of Life" (1993), with photography by Lucian Niemeyer and text by Donald B. Kraybill has wonderful images of farm life. Niemeyer was given an unusual degree of access for photography by the Amish of Lancaster County, and he used Leica SLRs and Kodachrome.
