Looking to get an M9, think it would suit me?

If you can stretch your budget I would go for the M240 myself. The CMOS sensor gives pretty good dynamic range unlike the CCD sensors of the M8 and M9. I still have an M8 and have considered upgrading to an M240 but not yet pulled the pin as I presently have other priorities. As others have said I also like the thought of being able to use other adapted lenses and focus them using live view. if you can live with the M8/M9 limitations though it is certainly a viable option. As other say from time to time and as you have said the color produced by the CCD sensors in them seems to be very nice. Though I cannot opine whether it is any better than with an M240 as some claim it to be. In general though I find the M240 to be a more well rounded and mature camera technology than the earlier models. But if you budget does not encompass that, then there is your answer.

Thanks for the reply. I'll look into those as well. I don't do video on these cameras, so live view really isn't priority for me.

I've got to say, as much as I love rangefinder shooting, liveview can be a huge benefit for focusing on rapidly moving subjects.

I have liveview on DSLR, useless for any moving objects. Every time I see some dude using lv it looks hilariously slow :)
Touch screen and lv might be different.

Rangefinder wise it works by using of wide and tabbed lens at smaller apertures. I could catch anything with 35mm at f5.6 by focus tab only; without RF patch.

If my M9 died for some reason, I don’t think that I would get another M9. Life is short, and I would most likely get a modern digital Leica camera instead. Would I sell my M9 and it works fine? I doubt it.

Good luck with your next camera buy.
