Yes, it is true. I have had my second Leica stolen. M6 classic, 35/2 summicron, 50/2 summicron, 90/2 summicron, Leica polarizer, several series 1 yellow filters and a green Tenba camera bag.
My first Leica was a CL with 40/2 summicron was removed from my vehicle while I was picking up my kids at the YMCA (out of the car for 5 min.), my M6 kit was removed from my truck, in my driveway a couple days ago. I've been twice bitten!
Many will question why I left either in my vehicle, I have asked myself the same. The truth is I always carry it with me, I'm always looking for an opportunity to use it. In the case of my M6, I picked my boys up and ran in to cook dinner that night, the truck was locked. The thief jammed a screwdriver into my keyhole and jacked the lock, ransacked my glovebox and console and of course found the camera under the seat.
To say that things are pretty sucky in my life would be an understatement right now. This camera had kinda grown on me, I had saved a while to get it and now it's gone. Anger has lead to disbelief, disbelief to a sick kind of sorrow and the realization that I don't own it anymore.
I am sure that the individual that helped himself to my stuff didn't/doesn't know what he has, I am sure that it will be sold for pennies on the dollar to support a possible drug habit. My only hope is that while he is heating up the rock of crack that he traded for my camera, it dislodges into his throat and explodes with such force that he creates his own tracheotomy, then realizing his evil ways finds Jesus and is then compelled to repent of his sins and brings my camera back, b@st@rd!
I wanted to post this days ago but everytime I tried to type it I felt sick, man this sucks!
Maybe it's time for me to take a hiatus from photography for a couple weeks or so, just shut it down and see where things go.
Anyway, thanks for letting me "vent" a little!
