The local Duane Reade drug store, for some unknown reason, was the depository for expired film for the last year or two. Thousands of rolls in stock. Bought all my film there and it was all fine. Everything was $1. Three packs of Kodak c41 b&w, 2, 3, 4, 6 packs of fuji $1. APS film $1. Disposable cameras, T-Max, everything was a buck. I went in today and it was gone-all of it. I spoke to the manager and he said they dumped it all a few days ago. I still have about fifty rolls in the fridge but I could have had it all for free. None of us would have to buy film for a year. Always a day late and a dollar short. Stu

Dumpster Diving!

Dumpster Diving!

I know this sounds gross but if you love the film why didn't you go dumpster diving? :0)

Agreed wholeheartedly! Dumpster diving can net you the most amazing things. What people will throw away.. *shakes head*

I was going to do the dumpster dive, trust me. I grilled the manager and he said the film was tossed several days ago, and the trash was already picked up. If a lot of expired film turns up on ebay than you know someone else put on their diving gear. I hate waste. I think they could have at least put a "FREE" sign on the stuff and gave it away. Everything that I toss that is good goes on top of the garbage, original packaging and paperwork if I still have it, and I even put a note on saying "THIS WORKS". All clothing is washed and pressed and goes to the local Church who distributes it, doesn't sell it for rags. Stu

There are two Duane Reades in my neighborhood and they both had expired and soon to be expired film for $2.00 for 4 and 5 packs. All of a sudden, gone! Without doubt eating into their sales of full price film, therefore out it went. I bought quite a bit of it before it went, though.

Everything was labeled $2 at my Duane Reade, but the check out person had a bar code at the register that they scanned and it only came up a buck. Probably because they had so much, and the manager wanted to get rid of it. And I think it was cutting in to their regular film sale as they had about 4x the space devoted to expired than new. Maybe I'll try another Duane Reade. Stu
