does anyone else think that the scans from their rolls of Kodachrome from Dwayne's don't look very good?
i swear when i look at the slides in a viewer they look great, but the scans that Dwayne's sends are lacking in contrast, color and seem a bit "noisy".

I got them once. Never again. They were horrible.

Isn't it coffee time ?
Not familiar with Dwayne`s witch kind of machine they do have for the scanning, but Kodachrome is hard to scan, or should I say difficult. Been working on a Fuji Frontier for some years until last year, and Kodachrome is way better scanned in a Nikon Coolscan something (we had a 8000) than the Frontier. The new software improve the frontier a bit, but scanning slides is demanding work.

Never have gotten scans from them. The problem your are describing is a common one with Kodachrome scans. I bought a Kodachrome target to calibrate my scanner, and my Kodachrome scans they are 100% better! It wasn't cheap $50, but well worth it. If you would like I could make a scan of one of your slides if you wanted for a small fee....

Not always awful, but often. This last batch was much better than most.

ok, i guess it's not just me then.
thanks. i'll give it a go on my V7000. just always figured it'd be easier and faster to have it done during processing.

I agree too,
I made them scan my 3 rolls of Kodachrome and I have been really disappointed and rescanned myself with far better results.

I send most of my kodachrome through wal-mart. I got scans once since i was behind on my scanning. Total cost was $30 instead of the standard $8 or so. I was expecting them to be much worse, and was pleasantly surprised. For the price though, i think i'll stick to home scanning, which only takes about an hour even with my manual load Plustek Opticfilm 7200i.
Here's a good example, rest of the set is from the same roll.

They're from my OM2n with the 24mm f2.8
