I purchased a 5N last week because I couldn't wait for the Nex 7 to become available. I'm really enjoying the "articulated" screen and it has opened up new "shooting angles". The shot below was taken with the camera located over my head while "chimping" the LCD screen. Lens is CV 12mm and the camera was set on the 16:9 aspect ratio capture.

I'm working on a series of Operating Room pictures depicting the "bizarreness" of surgery. The Nex 5N is a great tool for the process. 🙄

Below is another image.

I am growing more impressed with my NEX 5, too. (i.e. not the 5n although I suspect I would be as impressed with that for much the same reasons.) I must say however, that I am more impressed with it when I use it with an adapter and Leica M glass using the focus peeking option for manual focusing. There is something about the camera's 18-55mm kit lens and / or the AF system that results in me losing a lot of shots thru excessive fuzziness even when stopped down to F5.6 or F8. I must also say that the articulated screen is more useful than I had anticipated - I particularly like the ability to shoot candids or street photos at chest / waist height. I also like its dynamic range capacity which does seem to be better than any other small camera I have used and is at least as good or probably better than my Nikon D200.

Hello Peter,

We have the philosophy. I purchased just the 5N body and use adapters to use Leica, CV, and Canon rangefinder lenses. I'm really liking the results and can definitely see the need for "good glass". I've printed the above pictures at 16" X 20" and larger and have no complaints.

The ability to shoot candids at chest/waist height, while looking down at the LCD, has also opened up new possibilities as well.

Love my 5n. Never thought I'd ever buy a camera without a viewfinder, but I don't really miss it on the NEX.

The second shot you posted (the B&W) is a GREAT shot. Well done.

It is a cool feature to be able to take shots with that kind of screen, My ancient Nikon 995 does it as well.
