Loving the Summarit 5cm!

This, however, brings to mind the Voltaire quote: "All styles are good, except the boring."

Yes. And you are well-qualified to render this opinion, IMO :D.

I look on this kind of lens as one that is like a special brush. You use it when you want a specific effect in your pictures but it may not be one you use every day.

Agreed. Earlier I mentioned that I like the Summarit because it renders images that are less "clinical" than the Summilux. But if I could only keep one of them, it would be the Summilux.

Speaking of keeping one of them - I have two Summarits, an M-mount and a LTM. Personally I don't like the LTM Summarit - not for image quality, which is fine, but because it just seems to me to be too big on the Leica IIIf.

If anyone is interested in a cheap LTM Summarit - pm me.

Ned - with regards to APX 400 I develop it for 5.5 minutes in Hc-110 Dilution B and get fantastic contrasy tones, which scan and print beautifully. Just an idea.

... old thread, I finally got a 5cm Summarit too. LTM version and looks very clean but difficult to focus ...

This thread makes me miss my ltm summarit , even with it's slight haze it was a great lense. The summarit seems to catch a bad rap, I loved it with color film, and you knew it was there since it weighed more than the bessa I mounted it on. It was prone to flare but then again you're talking about a lense that is nothing like modern lenses of comparable speed. One of the more underrated and affordable chunks of brass and glass from leica.
