a similar experience. I'm pretty confident at 1/15. It would be interesting to shoot w/ the Noctilux.....would the heaviness of the lens add stability or shake?
 
I've taken several shots that are effectively sharp at 1/4. My humble tips:
- Push camera hard against your face
- Tuck elbows in
- Close your eyes (after focusing of course - reduces your heart rate)
- Breathe out slowly while gently and smoothly pressing the shutter button

With a Leica Standard you can go to places no other man has ever been (well, at least not recently...)

Seriously I got an M4, a CL and a IIIg (and a lot of other junk) and the last is by far the eaviest of the three and the only one I can shot constantly at 1/8" and occasionally at 1/4". Of course the softer lens might just "cover" camera shake which would be more evident with a modern lens but I think that weight in a small package is what really does the trick...

Enough wine ( for Magus French wine) even a bad lens looks good. Even an ugly model looks good too! One thing I learned in college was the meaning of drinking them pretty.😀
 
I can get good results some of the time with 1/2 sec on 35mm, but not all of the time. The colder I get, the harder it is.
Pretty sure this one was 1/2sec at f/22.

I'm confident down to 1/30th under most conditions. I can get away with 1/15th or 1/8th, but not with absolute confidence. This has been without a soft release trigger (button type screw in accessory).

I just bought one of those, and although I haven't used it long enough to know for sure, it seems as if it really helps to release the shutter more smoothly, which can only translate to less hand shake. They seem pretty cool.
 
I like slow speed shots, the combination of movement must however be integrated with something "sharp" however little but it needs a reference point.

With my M's I can't get below 30 with my old Rollei's however 1/8th was not a problem for you would use the neck strap as a balance, I can do the same thing with my Sony R-1 actually make great shots at 1/8
 
I don't own a Leica M camera, I wish I had one, it is in my plans.
With my Nikon FM3a, I can get 1/30 easily with a 50mm lens and 1/15 if I am lucky.

That was actually in colorado, but there are hundreds of residential neighborhoods in NM that look basically like that. The Mesa Verde NP border is about 1/4 mile from there though, and the ancient indian ruins look a little different from that... lol
 
I've pulled off 1/15 with my Pentax MG and a 28mm lens before but I'm not consistent at that speed and consider anything shot at that speed without a support (regardless of focal length) experimental, lucky, or both. 1/30 is the slowest I'm willing to handhold; below that and I'm looking for any kind of support I can get.

I get about 30% yield of usable shots handholding my Contax II with 50 at 1/5 sec. 1/25th is the slowest if I want reliable result.
