I have been offered the following by someone who is selling off his gear:

Hektor 135/4,5 with VF
Elmar 90/4 no VF
Elmar 50/2.8 with VF
Summaron 35/3.5 no VF
Hektor 28/6.3 with VF
Superangulon 21/4 with VF.

all in good condition visually and glass.

all for $2900 or i guess that works out to 2700 Euros.

My question is, does seem like a good deal to you guys for someone who would like a set of LTM lenses like this.

Yeah, that seems a little high. The most valuable lenses there are the 21/28/35/50. I wouldn't exactly call it a "deal." I would pay $2000 for all of it, maybe a little more. And that's if you *want* all of those lenses.

The Hektor 135 and Elmar 90 aren't worth more than about $150 each, if they are coated and in mint condition, with caps or bubble.

The Elmar 50/2.8 and Summaron 35/3.5 might be worth $250 each condition as above.

Don't know about the other two lenses...

The Hektor 28/6.3 is more of a collectible than a shooter - it's so slow...

The Super Angulon 21/4 might have some value, espec if with the matching Leitz VF.

As for the super wides, you can get more useful lens for less $$$ if you go with Cosina-Voigtlander.

Are you looking for shooting-glass, or collectibles ?

aaah... Well i had hoped to use the collection to shoot and what i didnt use much in my forst year i would sell on in the second. Thanks a lot for the feedback gents

Hi,

It's somebody else's idea of a collection and not yours so I'd not recommend it. Collections have to be built up one piece at a time; otherwise where's the fun?

Exactly!

What the others said, price is pretty steep, but of course, with this old stuff, everything depends on condition. And for this price, condition should be very(!) good.

If you look at it as separate pieces, that's an average of $483.33 per lens. Most of them don't come close to that value, and the others won't make up the difference.

Hi,

Also - a big point in my experience - building them up one at a time means only one on-going row with the sellers now and then. And one at a time means you can pick and chose sellers and lenses.

Also, there's the not so minor matter of bits and pieces with the lenses like front and rear caps and so on. Careful choices means just one purchase of a lens with original caps in the original card or plastic box. And they don't cost anything like the average price here.

Sorry this is such a downer but one at a time and learn as you go can save a lot of heart break...

Nice, shooter grade Elmar 90 can be had for $100.
Nice, shooter grade Hektor 135 can be found for less than $100.
If you're interested in those lenses, better to go find individual lenses.

Elmar 50 and Summaron 35 in nice user grade can be found for $200-250. So if you're interested in those, better to find individual lenses.

The super angulon 21, with a finder, in nice user grade can be expensive. I haven't seen one for a while, but last one was several hundred $$.

Hektor 28 is a collector item. The wildcard. Not often considered a user lens. I have no idea what the current value is for these.

Overall, I think the price is high, but the Hektor 28 makes it hard to know for sure. Remove the Hektor 28, and I think $1600 is absolute max and I doubt I would go that high myself for a $1k SA. Unless of course, these are all true mint beauties....in which case they might not make good user lenses.

I guess the resounding answer is no dont do it!. Thank you all for your time and answers. I think i will be taking your advice 🙂
