Today I recieved from Ukrania a nearly new Jupiter 9, It was suposed to come with a 9cm adapter, but instead I found an 135-35. I own a 50mm adapter and as far as I've noticed the only difference between them is a small dent (or recess) on the base of the ring. I asume that that is what bring the framelines to different positions.
Can someone that owns a 90mm tell me where is that dent?
Or take a picture? Maybe with a mettalic saw I can try to fix the 135/35 adapter (It's a Ukranian one so it isn't very expensive and I could save the day).
Am I wrong? can this be done?

Well thanks a lot,

Matu,

It is the length of one of the bayonet lugs that brings up the different framelines on a Leica- M.

Here is an article about modifying a Summicron-c 40mm lens, to bring up the 35mm frame.

You can see which lug is involved in bringing up the frameline.

However, I think you would have to ADD material to the 35mm ring lug, to make it "longer", to bring up the 90mm frame. I could be wrong, however.

If you are using a camera with non-automatic framelines (a Bessa R2, R2A, or R3a, for example), it would not matter which ring you use.

I forgot to mention: If you have a Leica M, with auto-framelines, you could probably use your left hand to select the correct frameline, with the "preview" lever.

You could also wedge this lever in place, with a bit of cardboard or plastic, when you have the lens mounted.

A Leica CL won't allow this, nor will some older M-series, which lack a preview lever.

Thanks Mike, I will read the thread. It seems that it is not an easy thing to solve.
I know I can fool arround with the selector lever, It's just the urge to have this problem fix.
The Ukranian seller insist I got a 85mm adapter. I'm not going to buy him nothing else.
Live and learn.
