Hi

I am after chasing down a wide angle lens for my IIIg, IIIc and bessa R, mainly for shooting the cricket grounds l shall visit this year, what would you recommend, l was thinking along the lines of a Voigtlander 25mm snapshot etc, what would you recommend:) Thanks in advance for any help received

The little VC Skopar 28/3.5 is an awesome wideangle lens, very compact and solid, with outstanding optical qualities.

Part of the question is which focal length do you need. 25mm snapshot skopar is a good lens for wide angle of buildings and cityscapes. 28mm is not wide enough for that purpose, arguably.

The 21mm f/4 Color-Skopar is also a fine lens. Hell, pick any Voigtlander screw mount lens in the focal length of your choice and you'll be happy.

both mentioned Voigtlaender, the 4/21 and 4/25, are very good and recommendable lenses

I have the 21 2.8 Avalon (Kobalux) in LTM. Much better than my VC 21 4.0 in M moun, which is supposedly better than the earlier VC 21 4.0 in LTM. All these lenses are far and away better than the early Leica 21mm lenses. Only downside is the 2.8 lens is huge on the IIIf.

Cheers for the reply, l plan to carry one of my leicas with me when l watch cricket this season and plan to shoot images of the cricket grounds l visit, so 28mm and wider would be good:)

thanks for the recommendation l must admit l was unaware of the existence of the Avalon, it sounds an interesting lens

I think the 21 in the classified is the M version

I have the VC 25, the Canon 28mm f3.5 and the Nikkor 28mm f3.5 all in LTM. They are all very nice but I am not a 25mm person. The little Canon is a wonderful lens and its finder is nice, a good value. The Nikkor is quite good but more expensive, uses hard to find 34.5mm filters and do not bother with the Nikkor 2.8cm finder. I mostly use the Nikkor with a VC 28mm finder but I must admit the Canon 28mm f3.5 and finder is a good lens and good value. Joe
