Zhou for me - functional, looks and feels just as good as the others, for less than 1/3rd of the price.

Cost aside, the Luigi cases are simply divine.

I started trepidly with one ('aged brown' - not such a nice color in the end) for my M8, and then ended up with 4 more: a Rally (kindof orangey brown - gorgeous) for my MP, green ostrich for my M7 and 2 brown crocodile for my MP-3 (one with Leicavit, one without).

I think the Rally is my all-round favourite for subtlety, richness of colour and the beautiful patina it is accruing with use, but the ostrich is a riot and the crocodile really suits the MP-3.

Luigi himself is a pleasure to deal with, and his creations are astonishingly beautiful, and a real labour of love. I have a sneaking suspicion they will last as long as my cameras, and only look better worn with age.

Reading this drivel is like going to the dentist and the only thing to read in the waiting room are a couple of issues of Vogue.

Tis a sad state of affairs when you're forced to sit in front of a computer reading threads that don't interest you. It's even worse when you bother posting about it.

:p

I voted for 'others': with my M's (M2, M4-2 and M7) I always use the org Leitz cases from the fifties, why:
1. they are relatively cheap and easy to find in good state;
2. they provide full protection, i.e. you can use them as a full case or as a half case;
3. they are good looking with my M's (I regret to have missed one in auction which was in excellent shape and in green)

SORRY I SAW TOO LATE THAT THE QUESTION REGARDS ONLY THE M8

Luigi

I like to fondle and smell mine. :D

PS - I went with the red felt - to match the red dial - anal, I know... :eek: (although the green came a close 2nd) :p

It is a nice hood LOL! I just realized I'm in the wrong forum!!

I didn't vote, because I have no designs on an M8 (anti-digital). But thanks for your comments on Luigi cases.

I voted Luxecase after owning the Luigi. The 2 Luigi cases that I owned is not very well cut once compared to the Luxecase. For example, the back pull off cover that covers the LCD glass will only fit one way, since the cutting is not exact. Also, the leather case covers the top word (Play) of the M8 and is slanted from left to right. However, the quality of the leather is extremely high.

I forgot about the Zhou case, very nice fit! Not on the M8, but on the CL:

Even though I have a Luigi halfcase, I rarely use it. I think Luigi's service and his product are top-notch though. I was intrigued by the Luxecase. It looks like a nice product, but I like the bottom design of Luigi's better. Seems more refined and like it requires a considerable amount of more work to finish.

I like Luigi's

I like Luigi's

because it makes the camera unassuming :cool:.
I have the full case (with the slide on/off front cover) - great to protect the camera, so I can 'throw' it in the overhead compartment on the plane, or in the back of the car etc - and when I go out, I slide the front off and attache the rear cover, shielding the screen and buttons - making the camera look non-digital (most people care less about being photographed, security and bouncers seem to ignore it mostly).

Because of the way I shoot, I would really like to have a way to change ISO on the top (like on film cameras) :rolleyes:

I use the original Leitz leather case for my M3, usually as a half-case. It's handsome (nice burgundy lining), secure, and sturdy. I've seen no need to replace it.
