I know there are not many flower photo enthusiasts here, but I just came back from the Orchid Show at the NY Botanical Garden, which I shot with my G1 and kit lens. The camera was a hoot to use, and it covered everything from macro to fairly wide angle (28mm equiv) with aplomb. Very light weight and easy to carry, too. I shot the show last week with a Nikon FM3a and Kodachrome - results not back yet. If you are in or near New York, this is a must see show. Bring your camera.

Thanks for the comments. These were mostly taken at ISO 100 with a bit of post processing, mostly sharpening, contrast enhancement, and saturation adjustment.
