Lynx 14 Question.

Hello to all !
New member here. I have been into Photography for many years. I have a Yashica FX2000 SLR, a Yashica 124G and a Yashica Electro 35 GS on the way ! ( 2 digitals also)
Now to my question. Which is preferable and less problematic, the Lnnx 14 or the 14e ?
Both seem to be in demand on ebay these days. Where is a good place to buy one?
Anyone here have one to sell? Please help me with this GAS !! 😀

I find both to be excellent, but they need a lens hood, big-time. I have two 14's and one 14e. I don't see a difference with the lens or rangefinder, so I suspect it comes down to the e having a different, more modern style meter. greyhoundman is the resident expert on these.

It´s the same camera with a different meter. The 14 is a needle type (old style) and the 14E has an electronic meter display made with lamps (not LEDs). The lens is excellent, razor sharp even at f 1.4, but it has been said flare prone however never experienced it myself with the 14. The only remedy to this is an adequate lens hood, which if round shaped will blind your VF partially.
I do prefer the 14 as long as batteries for it are easy to find and once properly adapted (1.5 V reduced to 1.35 V, or meter recalibrated) the meter will work as expected.

The difference in meter readout is a matter of personal preference. I've owned both and kept the 14 because I prefer the needle readout. I run mine (a lot, it's a great camera also useful for building neck muscle) on a Cris adaptor and s76 silver batteries. Once you have the adaptor, the batteries are cheap, plentiful and longlived with no need to adjust the metering. The 14E runs on two 640's which I believe are dtill available. You really can't go wrong with either one.
