M bodies on a tripod

Don't let equipment get in the way of taking a good photo. If you need a tripod to make it work, use it. Hair shirts just make you itch 🙂

Ah, but the right tool for the right job. It still seems silly to me. I mean, a tripod is far heavier and bulkier than any MF camera I've ever used. To me, I wouldn't even notice using an MF instead of a Leica if I'm already lugging around a tripod.

Anyways, I could understand if you wanted the signature of a Leica lens instead of whatever Rollie, Hasselblad whatever lens. Optically speaking though, it is just not physically possible for 135 to be better than 120 just due to the negative space. What I really mean, is blow them both up to 5 feet on their shorter axis. The 135 format just can't compete!

After all, why take landscapes if they aren't going to be wall sized? 🙂

Go big or go home, hey? 😀

Seriously, I don't know about you, but I use a tripod for long exposures. No matter the format. MF goes on the tripod long before the Leica or Canon equipment. Right tools for the job is always the norm.

Go big or go home!

Haha! But hey, you just said the magic words there. MF goes on the tripod long before the Leica or Canon equipment.

So then, why worry about putting your Leica on a tripod? If you REALLY need to, it's because your MF miraculously broke and you're standing there with your pants down, figuratively. At that point, it doesn't matter where the tripod socket is located. You just have to get the shot 🙂

"SPECIAL UNIQUE BASE PLATE FOR LEICA M1, 2, 3, 4, & 6"

That does look useful. I wonder why the seller ommited the numbers 5 & 7?

Canon made a very useful holder for their rangefinders. Alas, they are quite expensive. I'm also not sure that the M5 would work in the Canon holder.

Experiment works!

Experiment works!

My $12.50 Voigtlander gizmo works! It suits both Canon & Leica bodies. The lenses aren't quite centered, but the clearance problems are solved.
