Well, I haven't done anything incredibly foolish in the past few months so I feel the need to correct that.
Has anyone shot with an M-D (262). Something about it is just calling me. Oh, I know I shouldn't listen to the voices in my head...

You should check out the M-D thread for photos and experiences.

Yes, was reading the other thread. Seems to get a lot of strong opinions one way or the other. Guess that's to be expected of a unique camera

The M-D typ 262 is an excellent M. Using it side by side with the M-P model, I prefer it. It is less versatile, of course, without the Live View and video features of the M-P. But for what I want in an M, it is just right. It fits well in the hand, and works exactly as you would expect an M to work without additional features. The sensor is excellent, the image quality as well.

I really wanted the M 60, which was way outside my budget. So I determined to wait until Leica made it a production camera. Now it is here and I am still on the fence because I bought the M262 just before it came out.
It turns out that timing is everything.
All is not lost though since my M-A has no display screen either.

I'm going to sell the M-P. I find I like shooting with the M-D so much. The M-D works just the way I expect an M to work, and for anything else I prefer the SL.

Doesnt need one. Just open it up, pull out the film strip, hold it up to the light and look at what you just shot. All is not lost though since my M-A has no display screen either.![]()

I can certainly understand that. As much as I like the M262, I am sure the M-D would really be nice. But I am really kind of waiting for the minimal monochrom. Right now I'll "put up" with the 262 waiting for a new monochrom based on the M-D.
Of course a really nice, low shutter count M-D will probably show up in the classifieds and I'll cave, just before the M-D Monochrom arrives.
EDIT - Ah well, for the weekend my M262 and Elmar M 50/3.5 are bosom buddies.

There's one in the classifieds right now - $1000 less than brand new.

Thanks folks. Think I'm gonna have to take a little trip to B&H and actually hold one.
