Leica must really be overstocked on M240 parts!

I thought they cleared them out with those Zenits. Must have had a bunch of body castings. And space grey. How trendy. Even the new X1D II is space grey.

So it's 'just' an M-240 with a different paint job?
How much for this lump?

Whatever they charge I am sure they will sell them. They need an entry level M. The M10P now costs $8K.How much for this lump?

So, every leica camera at the end of production is M-E. E fur End.

Nice observation!
This M-E offers more than the base M10 - such as the leveling display, longer battery life and video.

Curious to know what's the difference between mp240 and me240.

I’m going to assume price and I didn’t see mention of sapphire glass rear screen. Not sure what they said the M-E case is made from, but the MP240 is nice brass.

TBH that looks pretty nice. Although I'd prefer a mint M-P 240 in plain black. The anthracite grey is interesting, though, and the 'genuine leather' covering sounds good, too. Certainly better than the 'premium vegan leather' of the Lenny Kravitz model.

The good(ish) news - £3,500 in the UK. The bad news, limited to 750 worldwide by the looks of things:

The local camera shop here has it listed at $4695 CDN. The 262 is "on sale" for $6195 CDN. The M-E is almost a bargain...

The old, 2012 M-E was priced a bit higher than the used price of the M9 at the time, but came with warranty, which was essential to the failure-prone digital Ms. Same applies to this one. Leica does know the used market well...

U.S. price is $3995 for the new ME. What's the lowest price Leica has charged for a full frame digital M? I have not read the full spec, but the new ME appears to have everything the MP240 has, minus the sapphire glass. A brand new MP240 lists at $7495.

That is an excellent price. The original M-E based on the M9 was $5500 and that was 5+ years ago.

Not quite. The M-E 240 doesn't have the frameline preview selector. But it is an improvement over the M240 due to its 2MB buffer (same as M-P 240).U.S. price is $3995 ... the new ME appears to have everything the MP240 has, minus the sapphire glass. ...
In the Leica world, based on what I currently know about it, it's not a bad deal!
I have it on good authority that the new M-E 240 is a limited run (750 units) intended to compete directly with the Zenit (on the same platform).

I was hoping to see the M262 prices go down because of this announcement. Any reason why it shouldn't except for the M-E being a tactical move by Leica to divert users from Zenit?
I think the M-E is a great addition to the Leica lineup. A lower cost Leica M entry point has long been needed. I hope the M-E (or another lower cost M) becomes standard production.
