M-E (typ240)

My Leica M-E 240 arrived today. Charging the battery now.... Will post photos of the camera and by the camera soon...

Question: what’s the workaround if you want to use LTM lenses on an M 240 with the usual adapter? Obviously, the LTM to M mount adapters are not coded...

CONGRATS on the new camera. It is a real beauty.

B&H also sells at least two different L39 to M adapters that can be 6-bit coded.

I don't have a digital M, but I have a few of these Fotodiox Pro adapters. They work fine on my M5:

This Metabones adapter has the cutout for lenses with an infinity lock close to the mount:

Fotodiox Pro adapters are great - I find them as good as my much more expensive Leica or Voigtlander LTM adapters.
Metabones - at the least the one I had - is awful. It had sharp edges that I did not notice which scratched the mount on my M camera.

Steve looks like you are getting on nicely with the M-E.

Thanks! I have never had a full-framed digicam, let alone a digital Leica, so I'm still at the beginning of the learning curve. Interestingly, the M-E seems to meter a little differently than some of my film cameras that have meters, and the aperture-priority setting is taking some getting used to. But I'm very pleased so far. Enjoying trying the camera out w/ some different vintage lens. Will post more pics in due course.
