In other words, the distance from the lens to the film plane (or sensor) is too short on the M lenses; in layman's terms, no, you can't do it.

Yes, but you are limited to those M lenses that are Visoflex capable, or are Visoflex native (e.g. Elmar 65).

You could probably make an adapter, yes, but you wouldn't be able to focus to infinity. Extreme close ups you could do.

Google a bit on Stephen Gandy, his extensive website has a few good articles on mixing and matching camera systems and lenses.

Maybe time for me to re-visit that article as well, because both my DR Summicron and F4 Elmar 90mm have detachable heads.

The though of putting a 'cron my D200 makes my knees tremble...
