At only about 17,500 British pounds you can be the proud owner of Leica's new M-P Titanium body with your choice of either 50/2 or 28/2 Titanium lenses.

Story HERE via the London Telegraph

Oddly enough according to the Telegraph,
only 333 of these wonderful opportunities are going to be available (down from the 500 units announced by PopPhoto).

333

Really?

If the 333 figure is correct,

how does the Leica brain trust come up with beasties like this?

I think we all got over these specials a long time ago. They really don't generate the amount of discussion they used to and we've all come to accept that this is a large part of the way the company survives.

The MP titanium Japan version was lovely. Don't know that I'd want a 'lifetime' digital body.

This is an excellent point. It will be interesting to see if these limited edition digital bodies retain their value once superseded. Unlike the film bodies, even now, I doubt we will see the same with digital.
The special edition lenses are another matter.
Ultimately usefulness and longevity will drive value, both to the current purchaser and those in the future.
My few thoughts, anyway.
Cheers

It comes with both lenses, so it's a bargain 😉
QUOTE : With this, the fifth annual M edition to be made from titanium – a truly tough and resilient material which decreases the weight by 90g and adds a stunning colour cast to the familiar shape of the Leica M-P (Typ 240) digital camera – come two lenses. Seasoned photographers will respect the choices: a wide-ish Leica Summicron-M 28mm f/2 ASPH and an all-purpose Leica APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH.

At least the body is actual titanium, rather than the coating the lenses receive...

This is what caught my eye. I thought the old M6 Titanium bodies were just titanium coated, as opposed to having their top and bottom plates machined out of titanium. Before this camera, has there ever been a Titanium Leica body that was machined out of solid titanium?
