M2 getting the Golden Touch

i am sending my M2 to Golden Touch ( Sherry Krauter ) to have a CLA and to service the shutter . I have been having problems with the higher speeds 1/500 and 1/1000 . The shutter is sticking a little . So in a few weeks i hope to have a like new M2 . Really looking forward to getting it back and it hasn't even left yet 🙂

I spoke with Sherry last week. She has a large backlog. She got my IIIc in early December and says it will be another month or two till she gets to it. She is really good and I'm willing to wait but ask her what the delivery might be. Joe

if you need a quicker return, and on a smaller budget, check out Youxin Ye. He CLA'd my M3 last year and had it back to me in 8 days (including shipping).... He's in NJ and I'm in Washington. Amazing customer service/dude

I bought a M2 with a very dim, dingy vf. I sent it to Sherry and when I got it back I was blown away. It was like getting a new camera. The vf came back bright and crisp. That M2 is my favorite camera to use. It's just a joy to use.

You'll get essentially a new M2 from Sherry. She completely rebuilt my M4 after being nearly destroyed in combat (by both a 122mm rocket attack, my ham-fisted repair and my falling into the Bay of Cadiz) Camera was perfect when it came back.
You won't get it back in a few weeks though.

Thanks for the great feedback on Golden Touch . I emailed 4 repair techs for estimates ( Golden touch , Youxin Ye , Essex , and Leica ) .

Youxin was the least expensive with the fastest turn around . Leica said they would send the camera to Canada to be serviced with no ball park estimate and the last 2 were very close with price and time .

But I had already made my mind up ( send to Golden Touch ) even before I had sent out for qoutes 🙄 .

There is no question Golden Touch does an amazing job with Leicas. If I was looking to have a camera completely rebuilt, Golden Touch would be it. You'll have a sweet M2 when you get it back!

I don't have the patience to wait months for a repair to come back, though. I send Leica bodies to Youxin and everything else to Essex.

Sherry overhauled my M6 last year and at that time I got a MP finder upgrade. It is a remarkably smooth and quiet camera and I am very happy with the results.

Sherry also keeps her schedule and my camera was sent back in a timely manner. She is worth any wait IMHO.

My M2 is back and better then ever . Sherry did a fantastic job , I needed a new first curtain and a good CLA . What amazed me most was how bright the range finder is now . Very pleased .
