M2 With a unique serial whats it worth?

I guess we could have a button-rewind serial number contest to see whose is oldest! Hmm, mine's 9350xx :D

Mine's 9417xx; but more valuable, of course, since it's now associated with me...

LOL, Ted! I guess they weren't impressed. My Spotmatic was new in 1970, maybe one of the last. There are about 4 of us (including Brian) here on RFF who have button-rewind M2's, but these earliest models seem to sell for LESS than the later lever-rewind cameras. M2: 939 xxx

Wow, Brian and Tajart beat me out for "Most Ancient M2" award, with Frank coming along close behind! :) Brian, you've mentioned yours comes from "the first batch"... what are the limiting serial numbers for first batch, or does that distinction belong to all button-rewinds?

My rewind button is the locking type. It does not need to ne held down during film rewind. What type are yours?

For Leica Serial Numbers, look no farther than our Sponsor!

There was a pre-production batch of 200 in 1957.

Mine looks like its from the first production batch in May 1958.
929001 931000 = 2000

Pure dumb lock on my part. I bought it on Ebay with a blown rewind for $430. Sent to Essex and $188 later it came back perfect. Took two months, the gears were back-ordered. I find it amazing that parts are supplied for a 1958 camera!

My FED-2 is... (I'm shaking with excitement as I type this...) #9939308. That's only 60,692 FED-2's away from 10000000, which is much closer to a winning number than I've ever been when playing the weekly Lottery!

Frank, my rewind button must be kept pressed while rewinding; it doesn't latch down. This camera seems to be from the 4th batch, dated 8/6/1958. My Pentax K may also have been made about that same time (intro May 58), first model with (semi)auto diaphragm.
