M240 sensor cleaing question

i picked up this m240 second hand and i just noticed these dots on my photos. does the sensor need to be cleaned? this is my first digital camera so i dont know anything about this stuff.

Yes, that is dust/dirt on your sensor. Try using something like a rocket blower first.

yeah i tried that and it didnt help. can it be cleaned at any good shop or does it need to be sent in?

Any decent shop can clean that. Or you can get a kit and do it yourself if you feel up to it.
I use gel sticks.
I would not send it in.

Am preferring compressed air can instead of (pump) blower, as its stronger against the stubborn dust particles. But its also easier to mess up: if canister is not vertical when used (or mixed like the graffiti kids do when painting), it can spray liquid directly to sensor, making problem lot worse.

Edit: this is risky especially on expensive camera like a Leica.

It's a dust/dirt on the sensor. DO NOT use high pressure dust blower (jarski grrrrr) you'll ruin your camera. Hand blower only (aka Rocketblower)! Clean it yourself, it's pretty easy. If you outsource, you have to know and trust the store that cleans your camera, many people are doing it wrong with "glue sticks of sensor death" (GEL STICKS - avoid like a plaque) - you don't want that!

You can use something like Photo Sol solution https://photosol.com/products/eclipse-optic-fluid/

and a full-frame size swab
https://photosol.com/products/sensor-swab-ultra/

Make sure to watch the video on their web-site and decide how comfortable are you to do this. Make sure you provide enough pressure when you swipe.

The risk of ruining you camera are pretty low if you follow the instructions. There is a good chunk of glass protecting the sensor so you're very unlikely to damage it. You have to be careful not to touch the shutter at any point of the process (this is the most fragile part of it)

My Fuji XH1 has an ultrasonic sensor cleaner that operates each time I power off.

I wish my Sony A7S did - but then I'm constantly switching adapted lenses.

Leica doesn't have sensor shaker, to keep dust off, as Fuji, Nikon, Canon does.

So when people tell you that the digital is cheaper: did you count in the camera sensor cleaning kit+swabs?

The in-camera sensor cleaning is gimmick. Where do you think the dust goes when the sensor "shakes it off" ?
