M240 sensor cleaing question

So... I had a problem with dust on the sensor of my M-E 240. Got a gel stick and followed directions. It removed some of the dust but not all. Also tried using a blower. Finally, I sent my camera to a local repair shop, which cleaned the sensor and removed all of the dust. The service tech asked if I had been using a gel stick (dry sensor cleaning). I said yes and he shook his head. Next time I’m sending the camera back to him. YMMV.

Yep. When I had M240 it was a constant problem to keep it clean (for me).

It's a dust/dirt on the sensor. DO NOT use high pressure dust blower (jarski grrrrr) you'll ruin your camera. Hand blower only (aka Rocketblower)! Clean it yourself, it's pretty easy. If you outsource, you have to know and trust the store that cleans your camera, many people are doing it wrong with "glue sticks of sensor death" (GEL STICKS - avoid like a plaque) - you don't want that!

You can use something like Photo Sol solution https://photosol.com/products/eclipse-optic-fluid/

and a full-frame size swab
https://photosol.com/products/sensor-swab-ultra/

Make sure to watch the video on their web-site and decide how comfortable are you to do this. Make sure you provide enough pressure when you swipe.

The risk of ruining you camera are pretty low if you follow the instructions. There is a good chunk of glass protecting the sensor so you're very unlikely to damage it. You have to be careful not to touch the shutter at any point of the process (this is the most fragile part of it)

I cleaned my M8.2, M9 and both M240's with the blue gel sticks just like they do in the Leica factory. I did the rocket blower first, then the gel stocks and now have four cameras with spotless sensors. This is accomplished action which makes it fact. Why do you say gel sticks are sensor death? Has this happened to you? Were the offending gel sticks from Eyelead or eBay Chinese knockoffs? Details please. I'd like to learn more about what you are saying. Leica and I may just be very, very lucky. So fill me in.
