Hi folks,
sorry my ignorant question but are the 50mm frame lines at an M3 supposed to be permanent i.e. they stay on when I change to a 90mm or 135mm lens ?
I'm still waiting to get the E6 test film back that I exposed in my "new" M3 (the one with the RF separation) and if there's another issue with stuck frame lines, this thing is going back.

Oddly, the answer is yes the 50 frame lines remain present when a 90 or 135 lens is mounted. So, what you are seeing is normal.

Andrew,
thanks for the answer - I tried a search "frame lines" initially but the result was 11 pages of threads....
Indeed a bit odd, I thought the M3 finder was thought to be the least cluttered but this applies only with a 50mm lens.

The 50 mm frame always shows in the M3 finder. It has rounded corners, which some do not like. Funkaoshi is right in that the M2 finder is the least cluttered. It shows only one frame at a time.

Hard to say that the M3 finder is "cluttered" by the 50mm frameline, in my opinion at least, because the 90mm frames are substantially inside the 50mm, and the 50mm frames are pretty close to the edges of the viewfinder.

Many of us remember when slide mounts came with that same shape...I always wondered if that was the reason for the rounded corners.
