I like my M4 a lot. I had an M3 advance lever installed on my M6 after using the M3 and liking it, but I don't know, I don't miss it on the M4. I do prefer the knob rewind of the M3/M2, as sometimes I'm rewinding and the crank slips off my fingers, and I have to rewind it all again.
One thing I thought when going for the M4 vs an M2 is that the loading was a bit easier and there is no spool to be lost (so I'd be always carrying a spare or two to be on the safe side).
