So i was able to remove the old vulcanite completely. Now what do I use to clean up the residue from old adhesive used?

I tried rubbing alcohol but it will take me ages until it clears up.

Will acetone do the trick? That's the only thing I have right now.

Otherwise, the web suggested paint remover

I used two different ways to get rid of remains of brittle vulcanite from both mt M4-P and M4-2. In the case of my M4-P I went the paint stripper way, toxic material and should be only done in a very well ventilated area, best is outside. In the case of my M4-2, I disassembled the camera, removed at first the inner part from the shell, then removed the remaining springs from the shell (lens lock release button and frame-line preview lever mechanism), and then baked the shell in an ordinary oven-toaster for some minutes at high power. Bad smell but the vulcanite remains could be removed easily without any glue residuals.

I had two threads here at RFF about it.(Unfortunately the photos went missing)
