Just got my M3 from CLA. Quite an extensive treatment, included some repair work (shutter replacement, some other bits and odds, external cover, etc...). The film advance is indeed very smooth, actually feels even slightly smoother then my M6 (which I consider working just fine), overall very nicely conditioned.
However, slow shutter speeds (slower then 1/30) are too fast and actually appearing (to my ear and eyes) got stuck on something like 1/8 (so that 1/4 feels like 1/8, 1/2 probaly just a tad slower but yet very close to 1/8, 1 sec. appears also somethign between 1/4 and 1/8).
There are actually two M3 bodies returned from CLA/repair (both of approx. similar vintage) and the another one is OK with speeds - approx. inline with my M6 at all speeds.
I contacted the repairman (very skilled one and well known here on RFF), now waiting for his response. Unfortunately, shipped back to adjustment isn't an easy option (involves overseas shipment, Customs hassles, lots of wasted time in deliveries...), so I would probably look into an option for the possibility of self-adjusting the slow speeds, of that doesn't involve any complex mechanical work and special tools (probably aside of shutter speeds meter to which I may get an access).
So, does anybody know whether this kind of treatment is viable by a non-professional hands ? What involves shutter speeds adjustment in M3s ?
(This is SS model)

Thanks in advance, Alex

Yes, I already contacted the repairman, he advised against my own self-tuning due to the complexity and sensitivity of M3 mechanism. We agreed the camera to get shipped over to him for the adjustment., shipment S&H is of his burden.

good, it sounds as though this matter has been concluded fairly. i am sorry for the waste of your shooting time, but once you get a freshly and correctly tuned M3 in your hands, the hassle will dissolve into a fond contemplation of the perfect 50 FL body and your surroundings🙂 At least, I hope...

Yeah, from a totally non-functional, a real beater bodies we got a nice veteran looking cameras (covered by new, vulcanit-looking skin) with silky smooh film advance and overall mechanical feeling, clean and clear vewfinder (albeit had to get my eyes used to a bluish tint view contrary to a clear gray one of my M6), definite and large RF patch.
I have yet ran a single roll through it, will do in the next few days, but I really hope slow speeds are the only issue with it that will be cured effectively (albeit would cost me another 2-3 weeks of anxious expectation). The good thing is that I have my M6 that is going strong (knocking on wood...)
