After thought and help from the forum I've decided on an MP. Now, I already have a Voigtlander 50mm 1.5 and am not ready to buy a Leica lens. It's a screw mount. I know I need some kind of M mount to SM adapter, but not sure which one. Also, I'm wondering if this is ideal (does not the adapter affect the focal plane of the lens)? How well will a screw mount lens work with this camera?
Kindly offer your suggestions as to where I might find the best price on the body.
And, this being my first Leica body - it would help to know if there are any general tips that will help in my using experience. Happy New Year! PC

PC

works well
RFF classifieds, KEH (likely ~ $30)

read and search the forum, wealth of info here about what to do with a Leica M 😀

Have fun!

Don't go for best price. Go for best seller - the shop that will help and advise before during and after the purchase.

Best price could be a mail order outfit the other side of the world and when you have a question about film loading they'll just tell you to read the manual.

The same places where we advised you look for the M3.

Leitz adapters. CameraQuest adapters. End of search.

Very fine lens. I have the Nokton 50 1.5 and the new asph summilux 50. the asph has a little edge but not worth the price difference. Absolutely nothing wrong with the CV lenses. I use cv, leitz and zeiss on both Leica MP's and ZI with no problems.

ps:

I'm using 1 Nikkor, 2 Canon & 1 C/V lenses on my M5. All with Leitz adapters. ZERO problems. I use a 50mm Leitz adapter with the 50mm Nikkor 1.4 and C/V 75mm 2.5 with perfect results.
