M4 windows, how to glue?

Hi, I've got an M4 top plate with windows and another M4 top plate without windows and would like to transplant the windows.

Can I just use krazy glue or is it a bit more complicated?

Krazy Glue (and any cyanoacrylate-based instant glue for that matter) might be a bad idea because it locally produces some quite aggressive fumes.

I've had quite a number of windows go blind on me on scale models when using cyanoacrylate. Those were obviously transparent plastic, and I'm not sure how susceptible the glass windows would be to this sort of thing but I wouldn't want to try it out.

I would probably use a small quantity of silicone all around the window, which has the additional advantage of being reasonably watertight.

NEVER use superglue around any optical glass!!! The fumes will cause a coating of haze.

The outgassings of cyanoacrylate actually etch glass..

As rxmd says, you would be better served with a glue on silicone basis, for instance the ones used to glue aquariums together..

ah so silicon gel/paste, the clear stuff you get at hardware stores for cauking tubs?

What are leicas traditionally glued with?
