M42 to Minolta MD adapter

Should I go for it? I have a minolta x-300s of my father. I like the lightness of the camera. Have a few m42 lens, since I have a hanimex, from a 300mm pentax to a 1.4 revenon, etc.
So, should I buy a adapter to use in a more light and possibly accurate light meter? I can with the adapter focus to infinite?

Yes, I have a X370, and I've just got my adapter today after 1 months waiting. I use it with my m42 20mm CZJ and I have no complaint. But you cant use auto with it, just manual, or my lens is fault, I'm not sure. But if you like m42, go for it, and buy the one made of brass, it's hard.

I have one made by Minolta, during the SRT era. It's very nice and works well. You will basically have a manual aperture only, and the meter will not be coupled. But you can stop-down meter, and use the lens like it has a preset aperture.

Works fine.

I have one of the ebay types which has a flange at the back to keep the M42 auto aperture pin pushed in. Handy if the M42 lens has no auto/manual switch. I'm assuming that's the problem that kyonthinh is having. You can of course use the cameras auto exposure system or manual metering but of course it's stopped down metering not full aperture.
