Leica M Recidivist
Probably a whole lot reliable, and more importantly seviceable over the long term, than the M6/M7. As long as there's a source for the CdS cells, everything else is pretty much Neandro-tech. The problem with highly integrated, chip-based assemblies is that when some component goes bad you need the whole assembly and since we're talking about Leica quantities rather than Ford or Sanyo parts it is possible that at some point your M6 just won't be repairable.

and the M5's the only M with speeds in the VF. I've also read somewhere that the VF was polarized but it is to be confirmed.

Not always, only when in AE. In manual mode you are back to M6/MP style readout.
