M5s have been "selling off" as they say on the Street. User M5s now go for as little as $700, but mint ones can be double that, because they are a big collector item. I think it is a good time to buy M5s.
As I understand it, there were fewer chrome M5s made. The price may be higher as a result. There may be slight price differences between 2 & 3 lug models as well. A recent CLA, or lack of same, will affect the price.
I sold it for $100 under the asking price. This camera was a real stunner (but not mint or collectible), and near the top of the range for a private sale. Good users probably start around $700, and prices go up from there.
I bought (on the -bay) a M5 and non-asph 50 lux for $1400(both excellent condition)...I thought this was a real good deal.
I was willing to go at the highest $1000 for a black one in excellent condition...I think the blacks are more desirable in the market, but that is just me.
Selling at $100 below KEH pricing whith shipping and all is fair.
Good luck.
Jason
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I put the M5 and a 50mm Summicron in the classifieds for what I think is a reasonable price. We'll see what the market thinks though.
