Though my chrome M7 is no M6, I'd prefer it to be black. But I am very sure that if it would be black, I'd long for a chrome one. So in the meantime I just pretend to be happy...

This thread got revived from the grave
In terms of M6's
Titanium wins.
Chrome Second.
Black chrome last - the only camera that looks really good in black chrome is the M5 IMO.

The M5 is the M definitely needing to be chrome (not black chrome, but chrome-chrome).

I hate black chrome, but love black paint. Classic black paint M6 cameras do not exist, so I prefer chrome ones.
Nothing is better than a black paint M2, however.

There is the black paint LHSA M6. They can go for as much as a used black paint MP.

The poll needs a category of "It doesn't matter" or "Whichever is less expensive."

That second one is what made my decision for me

it's just hide and seek
My M6 ("classic") is silver chrome, as is my M4 and half of the lenses I use.

I have the black, I like the black. I just do. it looks the way I think a camera should.

I follow the same practice...
I follow the same practice...
Because I now have a chrome body and a black body. But if you only have one camera, as I did once, I would try the Abrahamsson Soft Releases to color-code the film being used. If one camera HAS to go away for repair the color-coding will allow you to know what film is in the remaining camera. For example, I have a PURPLE Softie for Ilford 3200 because that's the color on the film box and cartridge.

Congrats!! The chrome/silver logo certainly makes this one looks unique!
For me, I would prefer a pair, one in chrome and one in black. I would load the ASA100 (or color film) in the chrome body and the ASA400 (or black & white film) in the black body. This way, it's a lot quicker if you are pulling the cameras out of the bag for a quick shoot as they are visibly different.
Cheers,

I have already voted for a black on this thread about 6 months ago but, for some reason I am more leaning more to the chrome cameras now. It may be because I have been shooting a lot with my Nikon S3 and SP, neither which is black. I can't afford a black one. I like the look of them and I am liking the looks of my chrome Leicas better. I do have a chrome M6 and a black M6. Jim

I just voted with $900. Picked up a well-worn black M6 (classic).

I have only known Chrome Leicas.
M6 non-TTL chrome
M3 chrome
M3 chrome
MP x0.58 chrome
M3 chrome
M2-R chrome
M6 non-TTL chrome
That's just how I love them because I don't imagine myself buying (using is a different matter) a Black one.
Strange love isn't it ?

Doesn't matter. I didn't vote.
60 years ago, most cameras were chrome but then a few professionals wanted black models and the rest of the world took notice and in the latter part of the 20th century chrome marked you as an amateur and most professionals used black Nikon F's.
Now most cameras are black and there are a few chrome.
Frankly, the fashion police would tell you that chrome M's look best with chrome lenses!-Dick

I prefer black, but old cameras with brass showing all over look like they came out of a trash bin. I wonder about the quality of the paint.

When they first came out, I got one of each after a fiasco with two chrome M3. Color film goes in one.
Silver is more pretty and holds up better. It is my first choice.
Black chrome looks dull fast.
Silver looks good with black or silver lenses.
Black is a wee bit more stealthy, not enough to matter.
At this point in time, buy the one in the best condition you can find.

Chrome! Matches beautifully with the classic brass chrome and modern brass chrome lenses.

I know this may sound trivial but it's a curiosity that hit me while discussing my pending M6 purchase with my wife. I prefer the black and she prefers the chrome.
What do you use and why did you go with that color?
Not to discuss the merits of this decision in relationship to the final product (picture, I should hope), I am just curious: if the majority of random people all ove the world will vote for you to get chrome, for example, will that make a difference in your choice, and if yes, why?
Respectfully.
