My M6 light meter just flash both arrows for 1 sec when I pressed the release button lightly down and then gone. I thought it was the battery, after changing new one, they were brighter but same problem. Only flash for 1 second and off until wind the lever for the next shot. Please help. thank you
. is there anyway to fix it without sending for CLA?

I used to have an M6 classic and, as far as I can remember, the meter only works when the shutter is cocked (i.e. the film is wound on and ready to use).

had the same issue with mine.
Reason was a malfunction in some part of the electronic.
Had to send the camera in and payed about 170 €.

Here in Germany we have an excellent repairer "Fotomechanik Reinhardt".
He CLA'd also my M2.
Don't know where you are but an M6 i would never send to repairer who's no Leica expert.

just got reply from the seller. He claimed that the light meter works fine with his 50mm summicron. Will m6 light meter behave awkwardly without a leica lens ?

I have an M6 as well. I would make sure the fresh batteries are good it's not outside the possibility they were bad even if new. In correctly and the battery compartment is clean with no dirt or build up.
The meter will work with any lens.
They will flash if you have the lens cap on. I am not sure if the exposure setting are way off.
