Hello!

I've got a Jupiter 12 and a Leica M6.

my question is: will the Jupiter 12 fit my M6? it's rear element is very big and I don't want to mess up my M6 (I've heard that it should fit but that it would block light and the light meter wouldn't work correctly). if that would be the case I could use my handheld lightmeter, couldn't I?

thanks for your replies in advance 🙂

PS: it is really important, I don't want to waste my M6 neither my JP12.

That is correct. I have also read (but not confirmed myself) that adding 1 stop to the camera meter's recommended exposure compensates for the light that is blocked by the rear element. You could confirm this with a hand held meter.

The light meter will read correctly depending on whether you are at close or infinity focus. I can't remember which, but at one of these the readings is correct, then goes 1/2 - 1 stop below the other way.

With the lens focussed close-up, the rear element would be farthest away from the meter and white curtain dot. I'm guessing that would give the best reading with in-camera meter.

From what I read in PNET - just compensate by -1EV when using the built-in meter.

Or, use a handheld meter. Whichever works best/faster for you. 🙂
