Hello all...

I bought a used M6 TTL a few months ago and absolutely love it. The frame/film counter suddenly died over the past week or so. It just won't reset back to zero or -2...just stuck at the end..like 40! I've been reading about this problem with the M6 and Leica's use of plastic parts so I'm slighty aware of the issue.

My questions are:
  • How much would it cost to repair this problem & how long would it take?
  • Would it be a problem just to leave it be and not have the counter working?
  • I'm also thinking of getting my M6 CLA'd if I have to send it in (might as well right?). What else can/should I get done while my M6 is there to improve the camera? I've read DAG recommended a lot here.
I know I could just ask him directly but I thought I'd ask the community first 🙂.

Thanks in advance.

If you send it to DAG he will fix it.
How long? - my turnaround time for CLA was 1 month.

How much? If something just got jammed and he would just have to un do it - I'm sure he will not charge you any extra if you also get a CLA at the same time. With no CLA - you have to ask him. If something broken - add price of a part and possibly a bit for work/labour.

Would I keep using it this way - broken, only if I had to, but even than bot too long or much. Its a pricey toy to risk more damage.

So, if you were thinkibg of CLA anyway, I'd say sent it out - it's a wiser choice in a long run IMO.

Thanks Krosya.

I'll most likely get it fixed but a month is a long time to not have my Leica....but thankfully I have other cameras as backup...just hard to see it go.

I'm also thinking of upgrading the viewfinder since it will be sent anyway. Might also send in my lens.

If it is what I think it is, I can have it fixed in less than a week. I have the part in stock. If you also need a CLA no more time will be required. I can quote prices my email please.
