Hi All,

Well I finally did it - after dithering and procrastinating for months about rangefinders I bought a Leica! I got a very nice M6-TTL 0.85 and a new Zeiss 35mm C Biogon to put on it. In case you're wondering about the pic, I found the 43mm Zeiss lens cap uncomfortably small and fiddly so I put on a 43-52mm B+W step-up ring as I already have some 52mm filters and I really like the chunky, easy-to grip (and cheap to replace) Nikon 52mm cap. Sorry if putting a Nikon cap on a Zeiss lens on a Leica body sounds a bit inappropriate!

I would love to ramble on relating my initial impressions of this camera after years (ok, decades!) of SLR use but first I have a question about the shutter sound. It's fully mechanical, right? On very low speeds I can clearly (though quietly) hear the clockwork mechanism working while the curtains are both open, but I can also hear something similar but slightly different for a shorter time after the second curtain has closed. Is this normal?

I just sent my first 2 rolls off for processing and scanning and look forward to seeing the results!

Regards,
Scott 🙂

You should hear a "whir" following the close of the curtains on all speeds longer than flash sync (i.e. 1/30 sec and longer).

nope no problem . i thought the same thing when i bought my first leica . rya is right from 1/30 to 1 second you will here some kind of noise after the shutter closes . enjoy it .
